Rusty Russell 137b80d53e gossipd: make the query response code use gossmap_manage.
This is a bit less optimal than before, where we had an ordered map of
channels and could easily serve "channels between scids 800000x and
900000x". We now iterate all of them.

The rest is fairly mechanical.

Rusty Russell 275d59ead4 gossipd: pass node_id to queue_peer_msg, not peer.
This is easier for future callers, which don't have a convenient peer
structure: in particular, asynchronous processing of gossip for peers.

Rusty Russell 7bdbb62b09 gossipd: remove channel update/annoounce creation and local update handling.
Now lightningd just doesn't tell us about private channels, doesn't
expect us to generate channel gossip, and tells us about public channels
via the addgossip call, we don't need any of this in gossipd.

Rusty Russell eeee5d6249 lightningd: really fill in our own details when channeld says to make channel_update.
Now we've asserted that channeld would tell lightningd the same thing it
would do anyway, we can simply have channeld say "enable=True|False" and
lightningd fill in the other fields.

This means there's a pile of things channeld doesn't need to know any more!

Rusty Russell 17e0c057aa gossipd: don't use peer softrefs for gossip credit.
We use a "softref" which is a magic pointer which gets NULL'ed when
the object is freed. But it's heavy, and a bit tricky to use, and we
only use it in gossipd.

Instead, keep the nodeid, and do a lookup (now that's fast) if we want
to credit the sender for valid gossip.

Rusty Russell 167209d595 gossipd: don't broadcast node_announcement if we have no public channels.
This could always happen if we armed the timer when we did have public
channels, and by the time we did our node_announcement we no longer
did, but it gets triggered in our tests when we remove (our own!)
zombied node_announcement in the next patch.

Change that to:
* common/json_parse (all the json_to_xxx routines)

Rusty Russell 36a2491a89 json: fix up msat amounts in non-_msat fields.
We had json_add_amount_msat_only(), which was designed to be used to
print out msat fields, if we had sats.

However, we misused it, so split it into the three different cases:
1. json_add_amount_sat_msat: We are using it correctly, with a field called
   xxx_msat.
2. json_add_amount_sats_deprecated: We were using it wrong, so deprecate
the old field and create a new one which does end in _msat.
3. json_add_sats: we were using it to hand sats as a JSON parameter to an
   interface, where "XXXsat".

Rusty Russell ee21ae814a gossipd: revert useless bf8cb640b7.
This attempted to make us re-xmit our own node_announcement at restart,

Michael Schmoock 67fdc6f8ad gossipd: send updated node_annoucement remote_addr
This is the cheapest algo I came up with that simply checks that the
same `remote_addr` has been report by two different peers. Can be
improved in many ways:

 - Check by connecting to a radonm peers in the network
 - Check for more than two confirmations or a certain fraction
 - ...

Rusty Russell 4ffda340d3 check: make sure all files outside contrib/ include "config.h" first.
And turn "" includes into full-path (which makes it easier to put
config.h first, and finds some cases check-includes.sh missed
previously).

config.h sets _GNU_SOURCE which really needs to be done before any
'#includes': we mainly got away with it with glibc, but other platforms
like Alpine may have stricter requirements.

Rusty Russell 9c254c8387 gossipd: when we refresh channel, don't override pending updates.
We can have an update pending because it's too fast, but
refresh_local_channel is supposed to make sure we're up-to-date, so
force immediate application in that case.

Otherwise, we call update_local_channel at the bottom which frees the
pending update. This can mean that we miss a change in fees, for example.

darosior 3510c29e5d common: move json_stream helpers to common/json
Now that we have json_stream in common/, we can move all the related
helpers from lightningd/json to common/json. This way everyone can
benefit of them (including libplugin, the plugins themselves,
potentially lightning-cli), not lightningd alone!

Note that the Makefile of the common/test/ had to be modified, because
the new helpers make use of common/wireaddr... Which turns out to
\#include <lightingd/lightningd.h> ! So we couldnt just include the .c
and add mocks if we redefined some structs (hello run-param).

Rusty Russell ca53c1b699 gossipd: push our own gossip messages harder.
I had a report of a 0.7.2 user whose node hadn't appeared on 1ml. Their
node_announcement wasn't visible to my node, either.

I suspect this is a consequence of recent version reducing the amount of
gossip they send, as well as large nodes increasingly turning off gossip
altogether from some peers (as we do). We should ignore timestamp filters
for our own channels: the easiest way to do this is to push them out
directly from gossipd (other messages are sent via the store).

We change channeld to wrap the local channel_announcements: previously
we just handed it to gossipd as for any other gossip message we received
from our peer. Now gossipd knows to push it out, as it's local.

This interferes with the logic in tests/test_misc.py::test_htlc_send_timeout
which expects the node_announcement message last, so we generalize
that too.

The first one means we don't discard channels just because we're not
