Rusty Russell 3cf8443285 Makefile: update bolt markers which have been since merged.
We tag them with specific versions when they're experimental,
but do a poor job of cleaning them up (and thus ensuring they're
checked!) afterwards.

Vasil Dimov 55173a56b7 Use dedicated type for error codes
Before this patch we used `int` for error codes. The problem with
`int` is that we try to pass it to/from wire and the size of `int` is
not defined by the standard. So a sender with 4-byte `int` would write
4 bytes to the wire and a receiver with 2-byte `int` (for example) would
read just 2 bytes from the wire.

To resolve this:

* Introduce an error code type with a known size:
  `typedef s32 errcode_t`.

* Change all error code macros to constants of type `errcode_t`.
Constants also play better with gdb - it would visualize the name of
the constant instead of the numeric value.

* Change all functions that take error codes to take the new type
  `errcode_t` instead of `int`.

* Introduce towire / fromwire functions to send / receive the newly added
type `errcode_t` and use it instead of `towire_int()`.

In addition:

* Remove the now unneeded `towire_int()`.

* Replace a hardcoded error code `-2` with a new constant
  `INVOICE_EXPIRED_DURING_WAIT` (903).

Changelog-Changed: The waitinvoice command would now return error code 903 to designate that the invoice expired during wait, instead of the previous -2

Christian Decker 4be1868b8a pay: Invert ownership of wallet_payment
`wallet_payment_store` would free the `wallet_payment` instance which would
then cause us to reload it from the DB. Instead of doing the store->free->load
dance we now tell `wallet_payment_store` whether it should take ownership and
leave it alone if not.

Passing the payment around instead of referencing it through payment_hash and
partid is a nice side-effect.

Indeed, if you waitsendpay without specifying a partid, you are waiting
for 0, which may not exist. Clarify the error msg.

We only tested exactly two equal-size payments; indeed, our finalhop
test was backwards. We only complain if the final hop pays more than
twice msat (technically, this test is still too loose for mpp: the
spec says we should sum to the exact amount).

Rusty Russell cd35835c5a sendpay/sendonion: add optional partid arg, finesse msatoshi argument.
msatoshi was used to indicate the amount the invoice asked for, but
for parallel sendpay it's required, as it allows our sanity check of
limiting the total payments in flight, ie. it becomes
'total_msat'.

There's a special case for sendonion, which always tells us the value is 0.

Rusty Russell ce4403d638 lightningd: change amount-in-flight check to be more nuanced.
We currently refuse a payment if one is already in flight. For parallel
payments, it's a bit more subtle: we want to refuse if it we already have
the total-amount-of-invoice in flight.

So we get all the current payments, and sum the pending ones.

Rusty Russell f7ebbb2ec5 common: make sphinx code ignorant of payload format.
Now "raw_payload" is always the complete string (including realm or length
bytes at the front).

This has several effects:
1. We can receive an decrypt an onion which is grossly malformed.
2. We can still hand this to the htlc_accepted hook.
3. We then fail it unless the htlc_accepted accepts it manually.
4. The createonion API now takes the raw payload, and does not know
   anything about "style".

The only caveat is that the sphinx code needs to know the payload
length: we have a call for that, which simply tells it to copy the
entire onion (and treat us as the final node) if it's invalid.

Rusty Russell bb7bbd03c5 lightningd: have json_stream_success start the "result" object.
"result" should always be an object (so that we can add new fields),
so make that implicit in json_stream_success.

This makes our primitives well-formed: we previously used NULL as our
fieldname when calling the first json_object_start, which is a hack
since we're actually in an object and the fieldname is 'result' (which
was already written by json_object_start).

There were only two cases which didn't do this:
1. dev-memdump returned an array. No API guarantees on this.
2. shutdown returned a string.

I temporarily made shutdown return an empty object, which shouldn't
break anything, but I want to fix that later anyway.

Rusty Russell 919f390a93 sendpay: rename 'description' to 'label'.
This field was used by `pay` to hold the bolt11 description if the bolt11
string used `h` to hash the description (which nobody ever did). If the
`h` field wasn't present, it could contain anything, as it wasn't checked.

It's really useful to have a label for payments (eg. '1 Cuban'), but adding
yet-another option would be painful, so we simply rename 'description'
to 'label' except inside the db.

This means we need to do some tricky parameter parsing to handle array
and keyword JSON arguments, but only until we remove the old name.

Rusty Russell 4e6b8e13a4 lightningd/pay: simplify code significantly.
We no longer need a 'sendpay_result' structure, we can pass
appropriate parameter directly now they're simple calls.

Every waitsendpay command ends in tell_waiters_failed or
tell_waiters_success, which call sendpay_success or sendpay_fail on
all matching waiters. These all return 'struct command_result *'.

In cases where the result is immediately known, we call
sendpay_success/sendpay_fail directly for the command.

This also adds a helpful 'failcodename' field to the JSON output.

redundancy and was even worse to review ]

This was a very simple change and allowed us to remove the special

Moved the callback out of `common/json.c` to `lightningd/json.c` because the new

flexible, and consistent, we decided to adapt to the majority and at least be
compatibly broken.

This commit takes care of being able to interpret either format correctly. It's
not perfect since signatures can happen to start with 0x0102 (the channel_update
type) but that'll happen only once ever 65k failures.

Rusty Russell fed5a117e7 Update ccan/structeq.
structeq() is too dangerous: if a structure has padding, it can fail
silently.

The new ccan/structeq instead provides a macro to define foo_eq(),
which does the right thing in case of padding (which none of our
structures currently have anyway).

Upgrade ccan, and use it everywhere. Except run-peer-wire.c, which
is only testing code and can use raw memcmp(): valgrind will tell us
if padding exists.

Interestingly, we still declared short_channel_id_eq, even though

Mark Beckwith 7f437715d5 Added error code parameter to command_fail
Until now, `command_fail()` reported an error code of -1 for all uses.
This PR adds an `int code` parameter to `command_fail()`, requiring the
caller to explicitly include the error code.

This is part of #1464.

The majority of the calls are used during parameter validation and
their error code is now JSONRPC2_INVALID_PARAMS.

The rest of the calls report an error code of LIGHTNINGD, which I defined to
-1 in `jsonrpc_errors.h`. The intention here is that as we improve our error
reporting, all occurenaces of LIGHTNINGD will go away and we can eventually
remove it.

I also converted calls to `command_fail_detailed()` that took a `NULL` `data`
parameter to use the new `command_fail()`.

The only difference from an end user perspecive is that bad input errors that
used to be -1 will now be -32602 (JSONRPC2_INVALID_PARAMS).
